Christmas is a coming...

Christmas is a coming, and the goose is getting a wee bit chubby round the midriff. Yes, I can hear some of you groaning in the back row: “It’s miles off,” and “You’ll be putting up trees in July next.”

But the secret to a stress-free family Christmas is strategic planning and forward thinking: some might argue that the British Military could save millions by ditching training exercises and instead giving officers sole charge of pre-school children over the holiday season; a couple of twin toddlers should do it, make that triplets for SAS recruits.

Additional challenges would include cooking Christmas dinner for ten and making sure that everyone has a fantastic time, no arguments just smiles: cue rictus grin.

Of course, the holy grail of Christmas shopping is the one-stop online shop. Ta da! You’ve come to the right place. Not only do we stock scrumptious gifts for babies and toddlers, but we also have a tempting array of mum-and dad-friendly treats as well.

And, as we are such a kind and thoughtful bunch, we’ve even simplified the decision-making process for you (especially to help any dads reading this, now that the Premier League is well underway!). Read our NBS nativity for gift ideas that cover all the clan. Free UK postage as always.

Pop over to Facebook and like our page to find out about a special giveaway on one of these gifts. :)

Baby Jesus (Newborns):

Boo Boo Mummy and Me Pamper Kit £32.99

We all want to buy for baby, but let’s not forget that mums need all the pampering and support they can get during this tiring, emotional time. Boo Boo’s pamper kit is the perfect compromise. Packed full of natural ingredients these products are free from harsh parabens, sulphates and synthetic dyes.

Little pixies (6-months old):

Baby Lambskin Eskimo Booties - Chestnut £15.00 £12.75

Eskimo Booties will keep wee pixie-people protected and warm during what is set to be a cold winter. Perfect for that mobile-but-not-yet-walking stage, when little tootsies need room to develop but protection from hard floors and table corners. 100% lambswool inner and suede outer.

Come in sizes 0-24 months

Mini Elves (18-months):

Nui Organics Merino Hooded Jacket £45.00

I’ve fallen in love with this top. It ticks the ‘doesn’t my child look like a cute Christmas elf’ box without swerving into the world of tack – and it can be worn beyond Boxing Day.  Organic merino certified to GOTS (the international gold standard), a natural colour that goes with everything and a pointed hood that a) covers the ears and b) provides a great photo opportunity for the wearer plus all family members on Christmas day. :)

Comes in sizes 0-3yrs

Away in a Manger (2-year-olds):

Cuddlemoo Toddler Towel From Cuddledry £29.99 down to £26.99

My biggest worry when splashing out on a present is that it’ll end up unused in a dark corner whilst the recipient saves madly for something they actually need. But have no fear, this will never happen with the Cuddlemoo (oh, how I love that name and so does my 2-year old). And herein lies the secret to Cuddledries organic cotton and bamboo mix toddler towel – forget bathtime battles, you can actually encourage (oh, ok then bribe) your offspring to wash themselves by profering the Cuddlemoo, plus when they come out of the bath the towel stays put on their head so they won’t trip-up as they evade attempts to dress them. The Cuddlemoo doubles as pure dressing-up fun, immediate gratification for little calves on Christmas morning!

Mother Mary (mums-to-be):

Womama Organic Birthing Wrap Dress - Black £49.95 Down to £44.96

Earn brownie points with your expecting nearest and dearest. We love Womama’s super-soft organic cotton luxury birthing dress. Read more about it here.  Women wear it as a tunic in the last months of pregnancy, pop it on in labour as a far more comfortable, and dare I say elegant, alternative to the standard-issue hospital sac-cum-gown. They can carry on wearing it once their baby’s born because it’s super comfortable and looks so good – a rare and cherished combination for any heavily pregnant or postnatal woman, believe me!

And let’s not forget Joseph (pregnant Dads):

OiOi Daddy Rider Messenger Changing Bag £190.00 Down to £133.00

These days most Dads happily deal with their fair-share of stinky nappies; but carrying said changing gear in a yummy-mummy bag sporting pink flowers surely does go beyond the call of duty? This Christmas ladies, give him an OiOi Daddy Rider Messenger: equal opportunities in the shape of a nappy bag.

The host of Angels (Sisters, Mums, miscellanious offspring) and The Wise (Wo)men (Grandparents):

Skin Salvation Bath Oil - by Purepotions £7.75

This lovely natural bath oil was created by a mum to soothe her daughter’s eczema – read more about the story here. So of course it’s great for anyone with sensitive skin, but more than that it’s a good present for those who enjoy soaking in the bath (and who doesn’t?). It’s also one of those products we would never buy for ourselves so the perfect gift really.

The Shepherds and shepherdesses (Bestfriends, colleagues etc):

Lavender Rescue Salve - By Pure Potions £4.65

A perfect wee gift to pop in a Christmas stocking or a card. Choose from lavender, tea tree, comfrey, or calendula. Suitable for babies, children and adults, these balms can be safely applied directly to any area of the body, including face, hands and scalp. It is recommended that you patch test (leave for 24 hours) before use to reduce the risk of allergy-related problems.
